Structured Cabling, Terminating & Testing

Switched on solutions can provide the installation of a cabling system that will support multiple hardware uses and be suitable for today's needs and those of the future. With a correctly installed system, current and future requirements can be met, and hardware that is added in the future will be supported.

Structured cabling design & installation is governed by a set of standards that specify wiring data centres, offices, and apartment buildings for data or voice communications. By using various kinds of cable, category 5e (Cat 5e), category 6 (Cat 6), category 6A (cat6a) and fibre optic cabling and modular connectors.

These standards define how to lay the cabling in various topologies in order to meet the needs of the customer.

Fibre Installation, Splicing & Testing

Splicing is a faster and more efficient method and is used to restore fibre optic cables when a buried cable is accidentally severed. We can install a range of fibre cables from OS1 - OS2 single mode, OM1 - OM4 multimode from many manufactures including splicing the fibre into panels located in a cabinet from end to end. We are able to test the fibre cable using fluke testers making sure all cores of the fibre pass and emailing the results to the clients.

Many different fibre cores and be installed and spliced e.g. 4 core fibre to a 48 core fibre and spliced into a panel to add new connections to the client's business.

We are trained in both Mechanical and Fusion splicing.

CCTV Installation

For any company we completely know and understand the absolute importance of security surveillance. Whether it's protecting staff and the public from any criminal or theft related incidents, or for health and safety purposes, insurance purposes or just to keep an overall eye on your working areas to make sure everything is running fine.

Whether you are a small or large business, whether you have multiple floors or buildings, or if you only have a few rooms to secure. We can cover any size installation.

We can mount CCTV cameras including the chosen cables to connect from the switches in the comms room to the camera located inside or outside a building. If the cables need securing on route this is something we can provide with our plastic or steel containment equipment.

WIFI Installation

We install wireless access points in offices and new builds daily to keep up with the demand of users in the office space. On many Jobs of ours The WiFi units have been installed as POE (power over Ethernet) using a cat 6 or cat6a cable running from access point to comms room, connecting to the WiFi units using a hand-held device to insure connectivity. See below for our great services:

We provide an extremely accurate prediction of your coverage and throughput. We calculate the ultimate location, quantity and type of hardware (reducing acquisition and installation costs). The use of the most reliable data to assess performance when the strongest one or two APs are not available (allowing you to identify back up requirements). We can also outline the detailed working plans for contractors and installers.

Cable containment

Plastic & Steel

Cable Containment is an important part of installing a network's infrastructure. The purpose of containment can be to support the cables en route, to make subsequent management of cables easier, to provide isolation of power and data cabling. Also to make the installation aesthetically pleasing and easy to work on in any potential future installations.

We install a range of containment from plastic to metal e.g. 20mm - 32mm tube to contain the cables to their locations. Metal Basket is often used to contain the chosen cables which we can install in all locations being over head, under floor or attached to walls.

There really is a true art and skill in professional cable containment. We always ensure that any job we carry out that has the use of cabling, has all been contained in the most appropriate and aesthetically pleasing order.

Security Access Control System (SACS)

Security for any business is at the highest priority. Alongside CCTV, SACS room entry systems have always been very popular and sensible to have for any business that may have valuable assets in each room. Which means that only certain personnel can enter and anyone who doesn't have access to that room simply cannot go in.

These SACS normally have keyless entry, meaning that either a biometric system can be installed or a card based entry is used. Whether that is by using your finger, having your finger or face scanned or swiping a key fob or a card to enter the room.

We have been installing many access control cables to connect from the doors to the controllers allowing swipe access in and out of offices / corridors / main doors.

Moves, adds & changes (MACS)

Moves, adds and changes (MAC) is the general term for the routine work performed on computer equipment in an enterprise, including installations, relocations and upgrades. Whether you are moving buildings, rooms or just want a general refresh of your equipment, we can set up, install and re route any cabling or workspace locations that you would like.

Any IT related moves being a PC / monitor / keyboard & mouse / switches or servers, we can provide a service to move all equipment from old location to new office location. Packaging the equipment for protecting then once at new destination we rebuild the equipment and insure the highest level of connectivity.

Racking & Stacking of IT Equipment

Installing switches and servers into cabinets including cable managements / PSUs / PDUs also including and patching from comms panels to switches is a service we can provide. Just like Containment Cabling, anything within the IT industry needs to be kept clean, tidy and organised at all times. Having an organised, labelled and well kept server room is extremely important.

Your server room is like the heart beat of your set up for your entire IT systems that are running in your building. In an organised fashion, we can set up your server room and racking so that everything is labelled and easy to access. Helping your IT team to access and use anything in your racking at ease and to be found without any issues.

Fire Proofing

The importance of keeping your cabling fire resistant is absolutely paramount for the safety of your business and data. Understandably, running cables from room to room has to happen by having holes and sections of the walls drilled or cut out to enable cable access between walls and substrates.

Being able to stop the spread of any potential fire outbursts within the cable route is a service we are proud to be able to offer.

We can either use fireproofing sealant around the holes or we can use fire resistant cabling to resist any potential fire damage to the cables. The reason of Sealing around the cables is making sure in the event of a fire outburst no smoke or fire will exit one room via the holes to a second room spreading smoke or fire that was made for the cable route previously.

IT Support

Support in IT Is often used when setting up PCs in offices making sure all cables are connected correctly as before and that all equipment is working fine. This line of work includes patching in the comms room if required to make other data ports live for connectivity.

We understand that your business may have IT staff, but to be able to talk to us, the company who set up your entire IT infrastructure is very important and heavily needed specially in times of urgency. Whether this is something minor, or something huge, we can help and assist in any way. Being on call 24/7 we can answer any phone calls or emails out of normal working hours if there is anything serious that has come up that needs urgent attention.

We have multiple skilled members of staff that are all capable of carrying out any required job, so please let us know if you need help with anything.
